Ofsted Confirms Continued High Standards at Maiden Erlegh School

We are pleased to share that following an Ofsted inspection in April 2025, Maiden Erlegh School has been recognised for sustaining the high standards identified at its previous inspection.

Inspections carried out under Ofsted’s revised framework no longer result in a single overall grade. Instead, each area of school provision is evaluated individually. Inspectors concluded that Maiden Erlegh School “has taken effective action to maintain the standards identified at the previous inspection” (Outstanding, February 2020).

The report highlights strengths across all aspects of school life, including the quality of the curriculum, behaviour, personal development, and leadership.

🔍 Inspection Highlights:

Quality of Education:
“From Year 7 to Year 13, pupils follow a carefully designed and ambitious curriculum that equips them with the knowledge and skills they need to excel.”

Behaviour and Attitudes:
“Pupils rise consistently to meet and exceed these expectations. They are highly courteous and respectful towards one another and with staff and visitors.”

Personal Development:
“The school provides a broad range of enrichment opportunities. Pupils enjoy debating and exploring their own views on spiritual and moral issues.”

Leadership and Management:
“The trust plays a key role in helping the school achieve its ambition for pupils. Governors and trustees have a thorough understanding of the school. They work well together to provide direction, challenge and support. Leaders support staff well and consider their workload and well-being.”

Sixth Form Provision:
“Students in the sixth form excel. The quality of discussion and debate in sixth-form lessons is exceptional. Students are mature and articulate.”

Safeguarding:
“The arrangements for safeguarding are effective.”

In a message to staff, Headteacher Steve Jump thanked colleagues for their “skill and commitment” and praised the school community for working together to achieve “the very best outcomes” for students. He ended with a great quote from Ofsted:

“Pupils are happy at this friendly, inclusive school, which promotes the highest standards in all areas of its work.” — Ofsted, 2025

Maiden Erlegh Trust CEO Jonathon Peck congratulated the school team and noted the wider collaboration across Maiden Erlegh Trust that supports high standards across all settings.
