Year 12 & 13 Business and Finance Workshop - 29th-30th Oct 2019 9:30am-4pm
First Intuition invites Year 12 & 13 students to a free Business & Finance workshop in Reading.
The workshop includes an introduction into accounting, a business game, CV writing and interview skills as well as the opportunity to speak to current accountancy students and local employers.
One of our employers, Kirk Rice will be attending and hosting an interview skills seminar. We also have an HR specialist coming in to give tips on how to write the perfect CV. Kirk Rice take on trainees each year, either straight from school or University, and are keen to meet with students who are considering a trainee position.
Department of Meteorology Taster Day - Tuesday 29 October 2019
Have you ever wondered how the weather is forecasted? This taster day will give you an insight into how the atmosphere behaves and how scientists can use maths and physics to make accurate predictions.
- Weather data gathering using meteorological instruments
- Richardson’s Forecast Factory – become part of a super computer to see how weather forecasts are created
- Fluid Labs Demonstrations – learn about the atmosphere
- Campus Tour
- Q&A session with teaching staff, researchers and students
Suitable for: Year 12/13 students studying sciences, physics or maths who are considering a physics/maths related course at University
Date: Tuesday 29 October 2019 approximately 9.30am-3.30pm
Location: University of Reading, Earley Gate, Whiteknights Campus, Reading, RG6 7BE
Information: This programme is free of charge and limited to 60 places. The taster day is non-residential, local accommodation the night before can be arranged by yourself, but in most cases persons under the age of 18 years old are to be accompanied by an adult in the accommodation. Funding may be available in some instances for support for travel costs. |Apprenticeship Recruitment Fair, Basingstoke College of Technology (BCoT)||Monday 11 March 2019||16.30-19.00pm||
The fair will see us host over 50 employers across varying industries, all of which have active apprenticeship vacancies and also expert information for anyone that is possibly interested in doing an apprenticeship.

Students, parents and teachers are welcome to come along and find out about what Jacobs do. We are hoping to have a fun and informative evening, which will provide students, parents and teachers with more details around the apprenticeship and graduate opportunities that we offer and the opportunity to find out about how to arrange work experience at Jacobs. It will also be the perfect event for any students looking for more information about studying STEM subjects or what a career within the engineering industry is like.
We will have interactive stands, and presentations on life as graduates and apprentices throughout the evening, plus a number of staff available to talk to students, teachers and parents one-on-one.
