Primary Transition - YEAR 6-7
WELCOME TO MAIDEN ERLEGH SCHOOL – THE FIRST STEP OF THE JOURNEY
We are delighted that your child will be joining us! We are now busy preparing for our induction day in June 2022 so that we can greet our new students in person, and give them a small taster of what their time at Maiden Erlegh will be like! We will be in touch in due course with further details as to what our induction day will comprise.
Right now, our transition team are liaising with our feeder primary schools to arrange for us to visit your child at their current school so that we can introduce ourselves, inform and enthuse them in advance of them joining us in September.
In September, we will arrange a parent / guardian information evening, which will allow you to visit us and find out more about what you can expect for your child as they journey through our school. Again, we will be in touch in due course with further details in this regard.
You will shortly receive a parent / guardian handbook from us which details information and guidance relating to life at Maiden Erlegh School, and your child will receive a student handbook during their induction day visit.
We will certainly keep you informed and up-to-date about the transition process; we are looking forward to meeting you and your child soon!

VISIT TO THE PRIMARY SCHOOLS
In the Summer Term of Year 6, our Transition Team will visit you in your primary school. We will listen to your teachers and hopefully get a chance to talk to you about what to expect.
STUDENT INDUCTION DAY
By mid-May you will receive a further letter from us with details of the date of the Student Induction Day, when you will visit us here. This full day visit will give you an opportunity to experience a full day at secondary school together with meeting current students and talking to them about life at Maiden Erlegh.
PARENT INDUCTION EVENING
Parents and carers are invited to join us for an evening. This is an opportunity for us to share some of the experiences you had when you came to visit us. Your parents or carers will be able to meet me (your Head of Year) and other key members of staff. Everyone will hear about how they can get involved in school life and how they can support you in your transition to secondary school.
